“Roxy was so easy to work with and she far exceeded expectations! 10/10 would recommend.” – Jen
Ten chairs, one table, and a backyard with just enough breeze to move through the petals.
This was no traditional venue—just a quiet patch of lawn on Cape Cod, perfect for Jen and Sam’s small backyard wedding. It was designed for the way they wanted to celebrate: through an intimate gathering at a family property on Cape Cod.
And that’s exactly what they got. No excess— just a love story unfolding in a composition of blooms. Layer by layer. Stem by stem. With spring flowers that had us all in a chokehold.
J&S spoke their vision and handed over the reins with trust. What we created was a micro (micro micro) wedding that felt like a luxury experience and probably my favorite wedding install in recent memory.

Jen came to me with a simple starting point: pink roses and baby’s breath. Something romantic and delicate—a layered dance of pinks, whites, and light tones.
She wasn’t just planning florals for a small wedding at home. She was curating a feeling. So I asked the question I always ask when there’s room to stretch: “If we kept the palette pretty, would you be open to bringing in some seasonal flowers too, just to add a little texture?”
She said yes without hesitation. And let me tell you, that kind of trust changes everything. It opens the door from arrangement to composition; from Pinterest board to something that responds to the season, the setting, and the soul of a small backyard wedding. In that moment, I just KNEW that we’d all make magic together.
J&S didn’t need a high ceremony arch for their small backyard wedding — just something with presence. I answered Jen’s request with something low and wild: a grounded arch designed to feel like it had grown straight out of the earth in reverence for their day.
We kept the palette of the centerpiece simple, but the ingredients were premium: her favorite hydrangeas, peonies at their absolute peak, a very tall foxglove I’d (proudly) grown myself, foxtail lilies from the Netherlands, and alliums. Every stem added depth, softness, and structure—layered intentionally to reflect the season, not overpower it.
I arrived early and built the floral install on-site, section by section, using three-foot troughs that gave flexibility without sacrificing scale. That’s one of the quiet luxuries of a wedding at home: no venue turnover, no setup deadline. Just space and time.
The final design didn’t reach upward. It expanded outward— textural, tonal, and unapologetically expressive.
Jen and Sam were all about intimate luxury—fewer guests, more impact. Their reception space for their small backyard wedding was a rented tent on the family patio, with one long table and the neighbors as dinner guests. Jen wasn’t after extravagance. Just one small ask: that the tent feel like an explosion of flowers.
I honored her vision with small meadow arrangements and bud vases, placed close enough to give the illusion of one long, continuous runner seamless from any angle.
I can still picture it: evening light pouring in, their closest people gathered around one long table, surrounded by tons of flowers. All of it built from Jen’s vision, the seasonal ingredients at hand, and what might have been my best crop of foxgloves yet.
That’s the difference between arranging flowers and composing them, between filling space and giving it shape. With the right eye, even a simple backyard becomes the perfect setting for a luxurious small wedding.
A single table becomes a landscape. The whole space shifts, not because it’s filled, but because it’s considered.
Whether it’s ten chairs or twenty, your small backyard wedding can still feel abundant, intentional, and beautifully designed. With seasonal florals, thoughtful placement, and an artist’s eye, even a patch of lawn becomes a luxury venue.
hi, i'm roxy!
I’m a florist by instinct and an artist at heart, drawn to flowers that move like they mean it. The kind that lean into the light, spill a little wildly, and say something real without saying a word.
As a florist located in Greater Boston, I design for celebrations across New England and beyond, always guided by seasonality and story. My work is garden-inspired, movement-driven, and rooted in emotion. Whether you're planning a wedding or just here to gather ideas: welcome. I'm so glad our paths crossed.
